Friday’ openings redux: One feature … and the future

Dan Webster

So, it appears that "Spider-Man: Homecoming" is the only mainstream offering opening in theaters on Friday. Considering the positive review the movie received from the BBC, this is not particularly bad news.

The other news is that the menu on Friday at the Magic Lantern will remain as is, for the moment. Spokane's art theater has some new films scheduled over the next few weeks, though. They are:

July 14th: "The Hero": A pickup from AMC River Park Square, starring Sam Elliott as an aging movie star ruminating on his life.

July 21st: "Hare Krishna": A documentary that tells the story of Srila Prabhupada, the man who started the Hare Krishna movement.

July 28th: "Maudie": Sally Hawkins plays a real-life Nova Scotia woman, crippled from youth, who emerges from her role as housekeeper to become a recognized artist. Ethan Hawke plays her gruff, loner employer/husband.
