Catching up with more news from the past week in local craft beer:

– V Twin Brewing’s grand opening Friday followed last weekend’s launch of the new Badass Backyard Brewing taproom to the south on Argonne, and they could have some company to the north before long.

Millwood Brewing still is awaiting a building permit for its project in the former Cunningham Studio on Frederick just west of Argonne. It hopes to have permits in place by the end of the month and begin interior remodeling with an eye toward opening by next spring.

And to the east, work is moving along at Sun Mountain Brewing on Greenacres Road, though no opening date has been projected.

– (UPDATED SUNDAY 10/23) Lagunitas’ Born Yesterday, a late entry, won the crowd favorite vote Friday at the first day of The Lantern Tap House’s Freshtival. fresh-hop beer festival, while MickDuff's Wet Hop was the people's choice winner on Saturday.

– Bellwether today resumes its weekly series of beers using ingredients from the owners’ gardens with a porter brewed with butternut squash and spiced with cinnamon, allspice and star anise. Look for a jalapeno beer next weekend, and a beet version after that.

– Coeur d’Alene’s Slate Creek set the stage for Spokane-area sales with a presentation to distributor KBI Craft on Wednesday. Those beers should start rolling out here soon.
