Your weekly roundup

Catching up with more news from the past week in local craft beer:

– Red, White & No-Li pale is rolling out year-round in 12-ounce cans, joining the brewery’s Born & Raised and Big Juicy IPAs.

The Citra-hopped beer, introduced as a fall seasonal in 22-ounce bottles, won a silver medal at last weekend’s Great International Beer & Cider Competition in Rhode Island. At $10 per six pack, the cans are a bargain compared to the bottles, which run $6 and up.

– Speaking of No-Li cans, the brewery raised more than $15,000 for a Spokane Valley family that lost its home in a fire by selling cases of Big Juicy at the discount price of $25 yesterday and today.

– The Coeur d’Alene Growler Guys is conducting a coat drive through Nov. 23 for the Union Gospel Mission. Bring in a new or gently used coat and get $5 off your purchase.

– In some overlooked election returns, a porter won the Facebook poll and will be brewed as December’s small batch at Downdraft, topping both a double IPA and sour cherry rye.

– Bellwether today releases the latest in its small-batch garden series, an unhopped, Bavarian-style wheat beer brewed with homegrown beets plus dandelion leaf.

Orlison is pouring a new Cranberry Wheat Ale (and nonalcoholic Pineapple Soda), while Badass has a fresh hop IPA and tart Berliner weisse.

– And Badass, by the way, is extending the hours at its new Spokane Valley taproom, opening at 2 p.m. (instead of 4) on Fridays and Saturdays and closing at 9. Thursday hours will remain 4-9 p.m.
