Extra innings

No-Li’s baseball beer is coming back in bottles for a limited run.

Switch Hitter Golden Ale should start showing up next week in 22-ounce bottles at area Total Wine and WinCo stores, and possibly selected Rosauers and Yoke’s supermarkets, along with displays of Spokane Indians merchandise.

“It helps build the Spokane brand,” says No-Li’s John Bryant. “Baseball is a big part of that brand.”

The mellow, softly malty beer (5 percent alcohol by volume, 15 International Bitterness Units) made a brief debut in bottles last summer as All-Star Game Golden Ale, in conjunction with the Northwest League/Pioneer League all-star contest at Avista Stadium.

It has since been on tap at No-Li’s pub under the Switch Hitter name, and also pours at Indians home games (along with two No-Li IPAs, Big Juicy – the only place you can get that on draft besides the pub – and Born & Raised).

Fewer than 100 cases were bottled for the current release, Bryant says.

No-Li also is working on a recipe and label for a special beer in conjunction with the return of the Chinese Lantern Festival in Riverfront Park this September.
