UPDATES FRIDAY 12/9

– Bellwether's big Albion heather ale (8.4 percent ABV) returns to the tap lineup tomorrow.

– English Setter has a $1 off kill-the-keg special on its Open Season Apple to make way for the Puppy for Christmas orange/chocolate porter. 

– Slate Creek hosts a Standing Rock benefit Sunday starting with a yoga class at 4 followed by the main event at 5:30 with food, live music, a raffle and a representative from the Coeur d'Alene Tribe.

 

UPDATE THURSDAY 12/8

Iron Goat has tapped two new small-batch beers: a light Goatweizen (4.3 percent alcohol by volume, 12 International Bitterness Units) and a hoppy but balanced India red ale (5.8, 44).

 

UPDATE WEDNESDAY 12/7

– The River City crew is collecting blankets, gloves, hats, socks etc. for the less fortunate; get $1 off pints with a donation of cash or supplies through Saturday. 

 

UPDATES TUESDAY 12/6

– The first beer from Selkirk Abbey's new non-Belgian Northern Cross label, an IPA, will be released Wednesday at Nate's New York Pizza in Post Falls.

– Wednesday's weekly offering from Daft Badger this time isn't a beer, but the hot, spiced Glühwein mulled wine that will be served at the brewery's German-style Holiday Market on Saturday and Sunday.

River City will have Velofix in the taproom on Saturday from 5 p.m. on for ski and snowboard tune-ups, with a $1 pint while you wait.

 

A look at the upcoming week in local craft beer:

MONDAY

– Twelve Strings of Winter is beer of the week at Twelve String, with $1 off pints and growler fills.

WEDNESDAY

Pilgrim's presents a free Lagunitas tasting starting at 3:30 including 12th of Never pale, Aunt Sally sour, Little Sumpin' Sumpin' hoppy, strong pale wheat and Wilco Tango Foxtrot imperial brown.

THURSDAY

– A pFriem tap takeover starting at 5:30 at The Steel Barrel will include the Rye Lager, Blonde IPA, Winter Ale and Belgian Strong Dark, plus free swag and a shuffleboard tournament.  

FRIDAY

– The Lantern Tap House's fourth annual Ugly Sweater Weekend kicks off with Deschutes beer specials, happy hour pricing across the board for those wearing their worst and a Spokane Beard and Mustache Club contest at 7 for best holiday beard, Santa beard and kids' build-a-beard ($10 entry fee, proceeds benefit River's Wish Animal Sanctuary).

Big Barn is offering homemade pheasant jalapeno poppers at 2:30 p.m. and again at 5:30 (for potluck baked potato night), while supplies last.

SATURDAY

– Trickster's fourth anniversary party from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. features a pair of special beer releases – wine barrel-aged Professor Funkhouse sour porter, and bourbon barrel-aged, soured Daedric Druid stout – plus barbecue from the Iverson's Smokin Pig truck from 1 to 6.  

– Daft Badger's inaugural Holiday Market from noon to 8 includes several gift vendors along with a visit from Santa from 1:30 to 3:30, live music by Dimestore Prophets from 5 to 8, and German-style food and mulled wine.

– Hopped Up holds an Ugly Sweater Gathering starting at 2, with raffle prizes and 10 percent discounts for those in garish garb.

– The Lantern Tap House's Ugly Sweater Weekend continues with the annual Holiday Round at 7, open to anyone who wants to sing or play a seasonal tune (sign up through lanterntaphousesarah@gmail.com).

SUNDAY

– Twelve String's fifth anniversary party from noon to 5 features a special bourbon barrel-aged tart imperial porter, plus complimentary food from O'Doherty's Irish Pub & BBQ catering. 

– Daft Badger's Holiday Market continues from noon to 5.
