UPDATE SUNDAY 12/4

– A mint chocolate chip version of No-Li's Rise & Grind coffee milk stout (a medal winner in Belgium last week) took the people's choice award in two of the three sessions at Seattle's Winter Beer Fest on Friday and Saturday. No-Li previously swept all three sessions in 2014 with a vanilla and coffee-infused Rise & Grind, and had one second-place finish last year with the barrel-aged OMFG version featuring vanilla, chocolate and orange peel.

Catching up with more news from the local craft beer scene:

– The calendar is rapidly filling up with holiday events aimed at area beer lovers (more details to come here on the later happenings):

• Paradise Creek introduces its Peppermint Porter at tonight's Marshmallow Roast from 6 to 8 at the Pullman brewery, with s'mores, hot chocolate and house-smoked bacon over cheesy cornbread.

• Ugly sweater parties are coming to Bottles next Friday, The Lantern Tap House next Friday and Saturday, Hopped Up next Saturday and The Filling Station on 5th on Dec. 17.

• Daft Badger's inaugural Holiday Market next Saturday and Sunday (a prelude to a larger event planned next year) will include several vendors along a visit from Santa, live music and German-style food and wine.

• Manito Tap House launches its 12 Beers of Christmas on Dec. 12, with a new specialty keg tapped each day through the 23rd.

• The 12 Odells of Christmas on Dec. 15 at The Filling Station on 5th features a dozen offerings from the Colorado brewery.

• And looking ahead to the coming year, Perry Street will host its first Frosted Formal on New Year's Eve.

– Post Falls Brewing tapped two new beers today: a big, Galaxy-hopped Intergalactic Imperial IPA (8.6 percent alcohol by volume, 138 International Bitterness Units) and lighter, German-style Slusher Kolsch (6.1, 10).

– Young Buck's latest release is a Black IPA (6.7, 75) brewed with orange zest and chocolate, and hopped with Nugget and Columbus.

Downdraft has a small-batch "The Upside Down" Third Channel IPA (a "Stranger Things" homage) infused with blackberries, blueberries and clover honey.

– Finally, last call for tickets to two beer dinners on Monday: the Winter Jubilee at Perry Street and Casper Fry ($65), and Bellwether's Five small-course pairing event with the Inland Northwest Culinary Academy ($25).
