One bit of feedback we heard during our Craft Beer Week event at Perry Street Brewing is that it would be helpful to have more advance notice of events coming up.

So on Mondays – at least during those weeks when there’s enough worth talking about – we’ll start giving you a heads-up on what to look for in the week ahead.

This week’s highlights:

– New Boundary Brewing, Cheney’s first brewery since 1910, is scheduled to open its doors on Friday at 4 p.m., in time for the town’s annual Mayfest.

– Also on Friday, at 6 p.m., Waddell’s Brewpub is having a release party for the first three beers in its Barrel Rider barrel-aged series: Fireman’s Amber, Shattered Glass Imperial IPA and an imperial Alligator Oatmeal Stout. Ten bucks (cash only) gets you your first beer, food and a raffle ticket.

– Cans take center stage at The Elk Public House on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. with the annual Spo-Can festival, featuring more than 50 canned craft beers plus live music. And this year, Spokes Mobile Canning will be on hand Saturday to can homebrewers’ own batches.

As usual, look for more details on all those and more later in the week. And always check the calendar of events on the right side of this page for the latest info on beer-related happenings as we get it.
