Up on the roof

In case you don’t make it to HOPFEST at Hoopfest today – and there’s still time, until 7 p.m. – another beer event is happening tomorrow in conjunction with the downtown street basketball tournament.

The Roof Top Brewfest will feature 20-plus beers (provided by The Hop Shop) pouring on the River Park Square roof on Saturday from 11 a.m. until at least 8 p.m. Entry is through the mall elevators.

Tickets are $10; you get five tasting tokens if you buy online in advance, or two tokens with admission at the door. Additional tokens are $1 each, with discounted “happy hour” pours from 11 to noon, and 5 to 6. The first 500 people get a souvenir glass.

Along with the beer, there will be wine and a full bar, as well as food vendors and both live and DJ music. And you can try to give your friends a dousing – which should feel pretty good in this heat – for a donation to the charity dunk tank (or just buy one of the iced $1 water bottles and pour it over your head).
