Pig out on Perry

Rick Bonino

The South Perry district has increasingly become a go-to destination for both beer and food. Now two of its prime purveyors, Perry Street Brewing and Casper Fry, are joining forces for a Winter Jubilee Dinner on Monday.

The evening starts at 6 p.m. at the brewery for a tour and tasting, then moves to Casper’s for a five-course Southern-themed meal paired with Perry beers. The menu includes:

– Fried oysters, pickled okra, Benton's country ham and salsa verde, with Session IPL.

– Grilled vegetables, fried pig’s ears and fermented hot sauce, with the Altbier.

– Candy apple pickled peanut coleslaw, Mills Farm country grits and confit frog legs, with the reserve 2014 Barleywine .

– Golden barbecue smoked suckling pig, dirty rice and braised collard greens, served family style with Double IPA.

– Pear fritters, winter spice anglaise and coconut-infused Chronic Porter ice cream, with Export Stout.

Cost is $65 (includes tax and tip). A few spots were left at last report; for reservations, call Casper Fry at (509) 535-0536 or Perry Street Brewing at (509) 279-2820.
