Rest of the fests

UPDATE: Hopped Up has postponed its Art, Music and Beer Festival until Sept. 13 because of air quality issues.

No-Li’s ‘Kan JamBEERee is only the beginning of a busy Saturday schedule across the area:

– Hopped Up’s third annual Art, Music and Beer festival runs from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Spokane Valley brewery, with hearty helpings of each.

Arts activities include such works by local artists as a display of 5- by 7-inch portraits and a more risqué “peep show,” live painting demonstrations, handmade crafts, face painting, performances by the Northwest Bellydance Company, fire dancers and Jack the Rabbit, and the release of the third issue of the Terra Obscura art and literature magazine.

Live music will be provided by Wade Rockstrom starting at 2, Eliza Johnson at 3, Mind Seed at 4, a community drum circle at 5, Spokane Dan and the Blues Blazers at 6, Bandit Train at 7 and Jus Wright and the River City Roots at 8.

Special beer releases will include the debut of an Autumn Smash brown apricot sour, as well as a small-batch blackberry sour and cantaloupe cream ale. The food lineup features hot dogs, ice cream and root beer floats. Admission is free for all ages.

– Also from 2 to 9 p.m., a mile to the east of No-Li, the third annual Budgefest returns to the parking lot of Budge Brothers. Look for a Sonnenberg’s sausage barbecue, DJ music, beer specials and prizes.

– And in Sandpoint, Laughing Dog celebrates its 10th anniversary from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with barbecue beef and pork for sale, prizes each hour (with beer purchase) and live music by Devon Wade from noon to 2, and the Baja Boogie Band from 3 to 7.

As always, there’s a special anniversary beer: this year, an Imperial Rye Ale, aged in oak barrels, that clocks in at 12 percent alcohol by volume. That’s being bottled for the first time, in an individually numbered run of 1,800 22-ounce bombers, which will be available at the event and at selected retailers later.

You must be 21 or older to attend; dogs are welcome on leashes.
