A look ahead at the upcoming week in local beer:

– Hello, fall: Area 51 Taphouse at the north side Onion Bar & Grill hosts a release party Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. for Sierra Nevada’s new seasonal Oktoberfest, brewed in conjunction with Germany’s Brauhaus Riegele. Sierra plans to collaborate with a different German brewery each year.

– Nectar Wine and Beer in Kendall Yards has a reception Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. for its featured August brewery, Ballast Point. Six beers from the San Diego brewers will be on tap all month: Longfin Lager, Grunion Pale Ale, Big Eye IPA, Grapefruit Sculpin, Victory at Sea Imperial Porter and the Spokane debut of Calm Before the Storm, a cream ale infused with coffee and vanilla. Cost is $10 for a flight of all six and accompanying cheeses.

– Firestone Walker’s Helldorado, a blonde barleywine used in the California brewery’s blended anniversary beers, makes a rare appearance on its own Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Blackbird, pouring from a cellar tap at 45 degrees. There also will be trivia and prizes.

– Twelve String celebrates National IPA Day on Thursday with the release of a new experimental version and discount pints and growler fills of its four regular IPAs. Expect more spur-of-the-moment specials at area breweries and bars.

– Green Flash is the sponsor for Saturday’s next installment of The Lantern Tap House’s summer concert series, with $4 pint specials starting at 4 p.m. and a dance party with the Twin Towers DJs at 10.

– Waddell’s Neighborhood Pub & Grille will host a meetup for craft beer enthusiasts Saturday at 6 p.m.; RSVP at meetup.com.

– Look for three more new beers over the course of the week at recently opened Bennidito’s Brewpub on East Sprague: a kolsch, hefeweizen and Naked Pagan Brown.

And as always, keep coming here for more info on everything that’s happening throughout the week.
