Tale of two tastings
Two big annual beer-related events are rolling around again on Saturday:
– Micros for Mamas – a benefit for Spokane YoungLives, which mentors and supports teen mothers – starts at 6 p.m. at Western Aviation at Felts Field.
The lineup includes Big Barn, English Setter, Iron Goat, Orlison, Paradise Creek, Perry Street, Steam Plant, Twelve String, Waddell’s and Wallace, plus One Tree Hard Cider. There also will be appetizers and dinner from Waddell’s, Williams Seafood and Longhorn Barbecue, live music by Bristol and a silent auction.
Table seating is sold out, but standing “social” tickets are available for $45 here (includes a souvenir glass and five drink samples).
– The Spokane Cork, Keg & Spirits Festival returns to the Mirabeau Park Hotel in Spokane Valley beginning at 7 p.m.
Admission gets you get unlimited beverage tastings (responsible consumption encouraged) along with a commemorative glass, food from small-bites stations and music by the Martini Brothers.
Breweries represented include a couple of locals, Orlison and River City, plus Fort George, Fremont, Icicle, Iron Horse, Lagunitas, New Belgium, Ninkasi, Northern, Oskar Blues, Samuel Adams, Sockeye and Traveler, along with import selections from Merchant du Vin and ciders by Angry Orchard, Wicked and Woodchuck.
