Will ‘Fargo’ screen tonight? You betcha

Dan Webster

Just sat through another screening (my third, maybe, or fourth?) of the Coen Brothers' 1996 film "Fargo." Getting ready for our Movies 101 presentation of the film for tonight's kickoff for this season's Professor Series, sponsored by the Spokane International Film Festival.

Following are five of my favorite quotes from the film:

"Say, Lou, didya hear the one about the guy who couldn't afford personalized plates, so he went and changed his name to J3L2404?"

"We stop at pancakes house."

"I'm not sure I agree a hundred percent on your police work, there, Lou."

"Oh, for Pete's sake, he's fleeing the interview! He's fleeing the interview"

"And I guess that was your accomplice in the wood chipper."

And remember, of the seven Oscars that "Fargo" was nominated for, it won two: Frances McDormand for Best Actress, Joel and Ethan Coen for Best Original Screenplay.

Tonight's screening at the Bing Crosby Theater begins at 7. Tickets are $7 ($5 for students) and proceeds go to support SpIFF.
