Life is tough during this ‘American Winter’
Whatever your feeling about who's responsible for this ridiculous government shutdown, it doesn't take a degree in economics to see that life has become pretty tough for a lot of Americans since the recession of 2007-08. If you don't believe it, then head to the Bing Crosby Theater tonight to see the documentary "American Winter," which screens at 6:30. Tickets are $10 with proceeds going to Spokane's Operation Healthy Family.
One review of the film has this to say: "In case it’s not clear, 'American Winter' comes from a specifc, biased and unapologetic viewpoint, but it’s also the kind of argument that’s needed right now. Watching the 50 year old John, 3 years unemployed and father to a young son with Down’s Syndrome, weep on camera because he had to borrow money from his parents to pay the electric bill, it’s bracing and raw."
