Great golf to watch, no burgers to eat

Dan Webster

A couple of buddies and I spent part of this morning watching golfers compete in the Rosauers Open Invitational golf tournament, which has been held annually at Indian Canyon Golf Course since 1992. We started out at the clubhouse, overlooking the tees at holes No. 1 and 10. And not for the first time I had to note: These guys play a different golf game than I do.

I aspire to play bogey golf. The golfers who play in this tournament aspire to make a birdie every single hole.

The tournament, which runs through Sunday, is easy to follow. Just park in the course's parking lot, walk onto the course and do what we did: Stay at one tee or another, watching the players drive; stay at one green or another, watching them hit approach shots; or follow the threesome of your choice, and cheer them on.

One disappointment: We stopped by the Indian Canyon clubhouse for lunch only to be told they were out of hamburgers. And this is a tourment named for a grocery store chain?

Now that's irony.
