‘Cloud Atlas’ just might help the fog clear
Been wondering about the movie "Cloud Atlas," which opens Friday at several Spokane-area theaters. I mean, I couldn't get into the book, and I have a hard time seeing how even the Wachowski siblings and Tom Tykwer could find a credible way of adapting a story that spans centuries and a half-dozen plot lines. But according to Owen Gleiberman, who writes for Entertainment Weekly and is no slouch as a critic, "Cloud Atlas" just might be pretty good - that is, if you're into something he describes as "a pulpy middlebrow head trip." Could be worse, right?
Maybe I'll give David Mitchell's novel another chance.
