Auntie’s Zooms in on regional authors Saturday

We hear a lot about the need to buy local. And it’s good advice, not just because it helps local business but because it supports a sense of local community.

In literary terms, no place does more for the community than Auntie’s Bookstore.

For years, Auntie’s has brought authors to Spokane, everyone from Douglas Adams to Ann Rule, David Sedaris to Louise Penny. But that doesn’t mean the store has neglected regional authors.

And in turn, regional-based authors have agreed to give back. Example: On Saturday, Auntie’s will hold its annual Small Business Saturday celebration, during which some 17 writers will be available to mingle with the public.

Only difference: This event will be virtual instead of in-person. The store will post the Zoom address on Saturday morning.

Following is a list of those expected to appear:

12:30: Erin Pringle (“Hezada! I Miss You!”)

12:40: Kris Dinnison (“You and Me and Him”)

12:50: Trent Reedy “Divided We Fall”

1:00: Glenda Burgess (“So Long as We're Together”)

1:10:  Kate Lebo and Sam Ligon (“Pie & Whiskey: Writers Under the Influence of Butter & Booze”)

1:30: Jack Nisbet (“The Dreamer and the Doctor”)

1:40: Mary Cronk Farrell (“Pure Grit: How American World War II Nurses Survived Battle and Prison Camp in the Pacific”)

1:50: Sarah Mackenzie (“Forever Friends”)

2:00: Tiffany Midge (“Bury My Heart at Chuck E. Cheese's”)

2:10: Shann Ray (“Blood Fire Vapor Smoke”)

2:20: Jess Walter (“The Cold Millions”)

So, take a breather after Black Friday. Be part of the community, if only online.

And one added benefit: You won’t even have to wear a mask.
